7th November 2016

On November 4th, there was an ALL WALES PERINATAL MENTAL HEALTH CONFERENCE, held in Cardiff. This was a wonderful achievement as it brought together all of the health professionals, statutory agencies and third sector concerned with the mental health of families and infants, during the perinatal period.

There was an eclectic mix of speakers & workshops, both informative and innovative. The conference helped to cement ideas and formulate new ones around perinatal mental health.

I held two 30 minute workshops on the philosophy of the Marcé Society. In the limited time was difficult to convey the whole purpose of the Society, but the sessions were well attended with good interaction. Myself and Dr Ian Jones, from Cardiff University, judged the best posters and awarded free, to 6 presenters, one year subscriptions (worth over £50) to the Marcé Society (Courtesy of the Marcé Society).

There are plans to hold the conference on an annual basis. Meanwhile the AWPMH Forum meets regularly to develop services and share good practice
