MEETING WITH THE WELSH HEALTH MINISTER VAUGHAN GETHING
At the beginning of the month I, Mark Williams & Julian Bose (Founder of DadPad) met with the Welsh Health Minister in the Welsh Government, Cardiff, to discuss paternal perinatal mental health. Mark and Julian spoke about the impact of the father’s mental health on the mother and infant and the differing work they were doing to support fathers and health professionals. I added to their comments and suggested that universal screening for all parents should be considered during the perinatal period. The Minister was gracious, engaged and listened intently to our concerns and ideas. He agreed it was a neglected area of health and was interested to hear the outcomes.

I was contacted by NHS Procurement group ‘Nous’, a London team of specialists in providing services in health. They had been tasked by NHS England to document the current services provided in Perinatal Mental Health. Mark and I supplied a list of all our courses and indicated the levels of knowledge which were necessary and which would be achieved. The details will be published shortly.
